Karen Carr. Vocalist, songwriter and voice instructor.

The Voice Studio

Singing is about the love of singing, and should feel good! It is body awareness, mindfulness, and is a physical process, a mind-body connection-much like an athlete. We are vocal athletes! You will discover that you draw from speech and sing with a conversational approach from what you naturally have.

Imagine singing throughout your entire range and having your own unique sound! You will feel confident when you perform no matter what style you sing Pop, Rock, Musical Theatre, R&B, or Singer/Songwriter. Whether you're singing loud or soft, fast or slow, high or low, your sound will feel natural and sound great to your audience!

I taught in the Voice Department at Berklee College of Music for twenty years, and although I enjoyed my time teaching there, I found the world of academia limiting. Most of the singers I work with want to sing contemporary music. They want their voice to be dependable and free. This is why I created Karen Carr voice studio.

My Students

My goal as a vocal teacher is to have a kind, open, and safe environment for each singer. I have worked with hundreds of students over the years; every person and every voice is unique. Through lessons, you will work on all aspects of your voice through exercises and repertoire and gain awareness and trust in your singing.

Most students I work with want to develop their skills to sing contemporary music. I’ve also worked with classically trained singers who have little or no experience singing contemporary music and wish to learn to sing in these styles authentically.

Whatever your needs are, you’ll be able to discover that you will gain personal satisfaction in your singing without manipulation or straining and have healthy, meaningful, and heartfelt singing, always knowing that love is the first ingredient.
